Festival Liberté Métisse:
South, West and North parts of the island, with amazing views of the ocean and mountains. The settings vary between a ‘garden’ course bordering a forest, mountainside in the heights of SaintDenis, and a 75hectare course on the south-west coast. The ‘Open de la Réunion’, which forms a part of the French Open tennis championships, will take place from 28 November to 5 December 2015, over the three courses.
The people of Reunion Island celebrate this fest as a major event commemorating the abolition of slavery. Celebrating freedom and cultural diversity, here is a festival for everyone, aimed at highlighting the fundamental values of Reunion Island and other Vanilla Islands (Mauritius, the Seychelles, Madagascar, the Maldives, Mayotte and the Comoros islands). This fest is a mark of respect, tolerance, cultural diversity and a shared existence. The event celebrates the island’s roots, history and diversity, all of which its inhabitants are especially proud. The festival is spread over four days. And concerts, exhibitions, food tasting and conferences set the pace for the festivities of this vibrant extravaganza.
