Nothing seedy about it
HYM Seed Audio’s new audio player is all you need to get the party started
Now that looks retro!
HYM Seed Audio’s new audio player looks vintage, but there’s nothing old-school about the tech. The Seed is an all-in-one WiFi and Bluetooth system with capacitive touch controls and built-in speakers. In short, it’s all you need to get the party grooving.
There are two sitting underneath the record deck. Each speaker features a one-inch silk tweeter and a four-inch Kevlar woofer, powered by a 70-watt amplifier. Vibrations from the speakers won’t ruin sound — the Seed uses a patented Tri-point suspension system to keep vibrations at bay.
Does it sound good?
The Seed is designed to deliver a warm-sounding vinyl experience with top-notch audio quality. That starts with an Audio Technica AT3600 cartridge Hi-Fi MM phono cartridge. While the turntable is tuned to offer a flat-frequency response, you can tweak the bass and treble levels via the included remote control. Even when it’s at maximum volume, the Seed plays without distortion.
Nice. Does it also stream music?
Yep. Choose from Bluetooth or Wi-Fi streaming via the Seed app (iOS, Android) or via touch controls at the front of the player. The app also features integrated support for services including TuneIn, Tidaland Spotify Connect.
I’m so in. When can I buy one?
The Seed is available to pre-order now, with shipping to begin later this month. If you’re short on space for a vinyl setup, the two-speed, belt-drive Seed turntable is a great option. This all-inone system features built-in speakers, so while the unit itself isn’t exactly small, it’s still more compact than separates
The new A3 arrives – and it’s right on time.
Technically it’s been more than a year since the A2 so you might say the A3 Pro has landed a bit later than expected.
What has changed from the last time?
Panasonic has opted for a metal design complete with antenna bands adorning the top and bottom edges. The processor has been upgraded while the rear snapper enjoys an increase in megapixels.
How about getting into the specifications.
Powering the A3 Pro is MediaTek MT6753 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD and a 4000mAh battery capacity. A 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera round up the optics.
I remember reading about ARBO AI.
The AI assistant is ever ready to help you out with things like location-based prompts to switch settings, learning your app habits and even providing reminders on calls or messages. Think of it as your very own personal assistant!
Hope there aren’t any modifications in the interface.
The user interface is stock Android with a clean UI devoid of any modifications barring a few tweaks that won’t affect the performance.
Do I get some choices in colours?
You get three, starting from Mocha Gold, Gold and Grey although two Gold variants seems a bit redundant.
Is there also a vanilla A3 model?
Yes, the only differences are the MediaTek MT6737 processor and 16GB internal storage coming at a lower price tag of R11,490. Everything else is the same.
When and where can I find it?
It’s already out now available at all Panasonic stores and other offline retailers across the country.
