Mid Day - - HITLIST -

A Pali Hill birdie was rather amused after hearing about and teaming up for

film. To jog your memory, after walked free in February 2016, the actor had chosen Anand’s thriller for his comeback. After beginnning preparations for the role, Dutt did a rethink when he read the final draft. He felt it was a mish-mash of several Hollywood flicks like Captain Phillips (2013), The Jackal (1997) and Under Siege (1992). Not wanting his comeback to be labelled a rehash of Western films, Sanju Baba opted out of the project. The birdie hopes the producers (Yash Raj Films) have read the script. And more importantly, seen the aforementioned Hollywood flicks. Or is it an entirely new story that Anand has come up with?

has been taking on those who feel that Newton, India’s official entry to the Oscars, is a copy of the Iranian film, Secret Ballot (2001). The torchbearer of indie cinema has been mocking comparisons on social media. Newton’s presenter is

who is also the coproducer of Kashyap’s next Mukkebaaz. Also, Kashyap is set to direct Manmarziya, another Rai production. The film was initially helmed by Sameer Sharma and starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar. It was shelved and Rai wants to start it afresh with Kashyap. The link effect at work?
