Family goes into nullah to look for missing son
Month after 32-year-old Ajay Athwal disappeared into a flooded open drain in Thane, his family refuses to give up hope of finding his body
A MONTH after 32-year-old Ajay Athwal disappeared down a nullah on August 29, his devastated family has not given up hope of finding his body. On Wednesday, a few men from Athwal’s family went into the nullah and scoured the spot for his body. For six hours they searched from Ramnagar nullah to Kopri.
Dasrat Athwal, Ajay’s brother, said, “After we went into the nullah, the disaster management cell and fire brigade officials reached the spot and got into the drain with us for the search operation. Why did they not search for him on day one? But, we did not find Ajay’s body.” Days since Ajay Athwal went missing A ROBBER’S deaf-mute act, that saw him escape the police danda for years, was exposed by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Thane yesterday. Dattu Ramdas Pawar, 31, from Diva, is a seasoned robber and targets train commuters while posing as a passenger.
