A shade of blue

Mid Day - - DAILY DOSSIER -

The Mahindra Blues Festival is to Indian blues fans what the next Salman Khan movie is to Bhai’s devotees. And the organisers have just announced the line-up for this year, which includes four international artistes, and Blackstratblues, the genre’s local mainstay. The acts from abroad include John Mayall (in pic), a veteran artiste from the UK who’s been active since 1956. Then there’s the Canadian singer Layla Zoe and Americans Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Coco Montaya, the latter having once been part of Mayall’s band. All in all, this edition promises to be a rocking affair (though that adjective might be considered misleading for a blues event).
