Not many mothers would want to keep their newborn child away from them, but American tennis star and new mom Serena Williams is ready to make an exception for American model, Gigi Hadid. Williams, 36, who gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. on September 1, left her little one for the first time for an overnight awards functions — the 2017 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City — where she presented Hadid with the Supernova Award. In her first public appearance since child birth Serena said, “Gigi, you are one of the few people on this planet I’d leave my baby for, for one night. It shows how much you mean to me. And I want you to imagine the affect you have on the world,” US website E! online quoted Serena, as saying. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has showed how sportspersons can take social messages to the masses, Srinivas Prasad, the minister at India’s UN Mission, told a General Assembly session. Tendulkar has been involved in a campaign for personal hygiene practices among children and also promotes the national “Swachh Bharat” programme, Prasad said at the session on Sport for Development and Peacebuilding, yesterday. “As the top sport of India which reaches millions of people in cities, towns and even small villages across the country, cricket and its stars provide a very important platform for spreading social messages. And Sachin truly illustrates this,” said Prasad.
