Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar was the cynosure of all eyes as BMW unveiled its all-new 5-series luxury sedan. Bigger and lighter than the outgoing 5-series, the brand new offering takes its cues from the 7-series variant and it becomes a little tough to differentiate between the two.

The new 5-Series has been produced at the company’s Chennai-based manufacturing facility and has been launched with three engine options in India. These include a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with 190hp output, 3.0 litre, inline-six diesel with 265hp output and a 2.0 litre petrol unit with 252hp output. All the engines have been teamed up with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

In terms of cabin design, the 5-Series is just about as luxurious as it gets with some very cool gizmos, similar to the ones the 7-Series boasts of. They include a gesture control for infotainment system, a new display unit, 10” tablets

the rear passengers, sunroof and a lot more. Select variants also feature the remote parking function.

The all-new 5-Series was launched at an event at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai. The star-studded featured the legendary Sachin Tendulkar who unveiled the automobile along with BMW India President Vikram Pawah.
