– Tankoa’s newest creation, S501 Vertige is the ideal combination of luxury and performance

Tankoa is a one of its kind boutique shipyard with a multicultural approach to yachts construction. Their newest creation, S501 Vertige entwines performance with luxury

In an edgy contemporary font that nds harmony with the chiselled exterior lines, emblazoned across the sculpted transom of Tankoa’s second delivery is the French word ‘Vertige’. From the owner’s mother tongue, it translates to ‘a fear of heights’ in English, but for the spectators, it appears to be something of a misnomer for a shipyard that is consistently scaling new heights. All set to make her ofcial debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2017, Tankoa S501 Vertige represents quintessence of the result between a high-quality builder and a marketing and sales organisation that was in daily contact with yacht owners, captains and surveyor. The S501 Vertige is a full displacement vessel boasting a perfectly balanced and uid timeless design which has been superbly penned by multi-award winning Francesco Paszkowski, with naval architecture by Massimo Visibelli.

With an earnestness to achieve a design that will not look like what is currently offered in the market, Tankoa’s management team has worked in close collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski to create the most beautiful 50-metre yacht ever build under 500 GRT. The Tankoa Vertige S501 is built entirely in aluminum light alloy 5083, carefully monitored by the project manager and builder engineer Albert McIlroy, the owner’s representative. The interiors, as per client’s request, are designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio in cooperation with Margherita Casprini and reect a “modern but warm” atmosphere.

Vertige’s interior living is generously laid out over three spacious decks. Her main deck offers a large salon area with formal dining forward. The interior sleeps up to 12 guests in six rooms, including a master suite, one VIP stateroom, three

double cabins and one twin cabin. The yacht also features a gigantic aft deck and ybridge. Offering ample options for entertainment and leisure like a gym, home cinema, Vertige’s impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her the ideal charter yacht for socialising and entertaining with family and friends. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.

Taking account of the performance of the luxurious vessel, Vertige has reported excellent results following sea trials, reaching top speeds of 16kt at 60 percent load – about 33,000 litres of fuel and more than 20,000 litres of water. While performance is usually measured in calm seas and 5kt of wind, actual sea trials took place with over a metre of waves and a choppy sea with northerly wind gusts of up to 30kt. This semi-custom S501 semi-displacement yacht also features ‘at anchor stabilisers’ which work at zero speed, increasing onboard comfort at anchor and in rough waters. Vertige has demonstrated excellent handling even when the stabilisers were not enabled, by establishing an exceptional stability. It can achieve a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots, thanks to her twin MTU 8V400054R diesel engines.

Since its inception, Tankoa Yachts’ business plan is based on a new philosophy of yacht construction. From low sound to an extraordinary high performance to power ratio, Vertige is yet another testament to the Tankoa shipyard’s inexorable rise.
