A 19th-cen­tury ar­chi­tec­tural mas­ter­piece, the Palais Garnier Opera House, built by Charles and opened in 1875, is one of Paris’ most cel­e­brated mon­u­ments. Sit­u­ated in the 9th ar­rondisse­ment at the end of av­enue de l’Opéra, sump­tu­ous opera house sym­bol­ises the op­u­lence of the Sec­ond Em­pire. The Palais Garnier was a set for the movie ‘La Grande Vadrouille’ (Don’t look now, we’re be­ing shot at) star­ring Louis de Funès in 1966.
