HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO HELP YOU LIMIT SCREEN TIME AWAY FROM HOME:

Mother & Baby - - BABY & TODDLER -

Choose the daycare wisely: Find a good daycare. Ensure that the place you pick has a similar mindset to how you want to raise your child. Ensure safety, comfort and hygiene are taken seriously, but above all, that they follow a strict ‘no screen time’ policy.

Establish a good rapport with caregivers: Make sure that you talk to caregivers, nanny or babysitter about your rules regarding screen time. They also will be on same page as you. Talk to family and friends: Let loved ones know your preferences, but also be flexible. If grandpa has a football game on or all the cousins are watching a silly YouTube video, it’s okay to make an exception.

Talk to other parents: Touch base before and after play dates. If your child has been playing on an iPad at a friend’s home, plan for no screen time for the rest of the day.

Alternate fun packages: If you feel that your child needs to broaden his horizons, plan for a short picnic to a nearby garden with a ‘bag of fun’ filled with your child’s favourite books, toys, colour books, etc. This can be good go-to tool box when he gets tired and impatient.
