Wa­ter­proof­ing Tech­nol­ogy is con­tin­u­ously pro­gress­ing. In this con­text, sev­eral im­por­tant con­cepts are il­lus­trated which are of use to tech­nol­ogy plan­ners and fore­cast­ers. STP Ltd has one of the big­gest R&D di­vi­sions in the field of con­struc­tion chem­i­cals and al­lied prod­ucts in In­dia. Its prod­ucts have been in use even much be­fore In­dia got In­de­pen­dence and over the years, the com­pany has re­ceived numer­ous awards and is rec­og­nized as the mas­ter in the field of wa­ter­proof­ing.

Struc­tures are ex­posed to ag­gres­sive en­vi­ron­ments like car­bon­a­tion, al­kali sil­ica re­ac­tion, mois­ture, etc., re­sult­ing in cor­ro­sion of re­in­force­ment and de­te­ri­o­rat­ing qual­ity of con­crete. To­day, the ex­perts from STP have ad­vanced on dura­bil­ity, re­pair, and pro­tec­tion of struc­tures, and have de­vel­oped state-of-the-art ma­te­ri­als and tech­niques. Shal­iPlast LW++ is an In­te­gral wa­ter­proof­in­gcum-cor­ro­sion in­hibitor for Re­in­forced Ce­ment Con­crete (RCC). This rev­o­lu­tion­ary liq­uid wa­ter­proof­ing com­pound pro­tects con­crete in­ter­nally from wa­ter ingress as well as saves the re-bars of re­in­forced con­crete and mor­tar against chlo­ride in­duced cor­ro­sion. The unique bipo­lar com­pound mi­grates through con­crete dur­ing cur­ing process and puts a pas­sive layer over re-bars to stop chlo­ride cor­ro­sion.

Shal­iSeal RSTC - rev­o­lu­tion­iz­ing In­dian roads

In In­dia, the con­di­tion of most of the roads is pa­thetic, es­pe­cially dur­ing the mon­soons. The rea­son is sim­ple: wa­ter en­ter­ing the roads is the main cause of dam­age. The life of the roads can be in­creased by pro­vid­ing proper side drains and a wa­ter-re­sis­tant top layer. Over the years, STP has de­vel­oped Shal­iSeal RSTC, which is a coal tar-based sealer and al­most un­af­fected by wa­ter. This prod­uct has been ap­plied on var­i­ous roads of NHAI, PWD and other in­sti­tu­tions, and given in­cred­i­ble re­sults.

Bi­tu­men has been used as a paving ma­te­rial since the 18th cen­tury. It de­te­ri­o­rates un­der the sun's ul­tra­vi­o­let rays and wa­ter, gets dis­solved by petro­chem­i­cals, at­tacked by chem­i­cals, de­ic­ing salts etc. Cur­rently, bi­tu­men-based fog seal­ers are used in In­dia. Time has come when we need to use a wa­ter-re­sis­tant sealer on roads, such as Shal­iSeal RSTC, which is an in­cred­i­ble prod­uct set to rev­o­lu­tion­ize In­dian roads. Bridge Deck wa­ter­proof­ing with Su­perTher­moLay APP mem­brane

Bridges are one of the ma­jor life-lines for con­nect­ing peo­ple. They need to be pro­tected a ma­jor silent en­emy, that is, wa­ter. STP has been do­ing bridge deck wa­ter­proof­ing us­ing Su­perTher­moLay APP mem­brane, which pre­vents ingress of wa­ter into bridge con­crete, thus pre­vent­ing harm­ful in­gre­di­ents from da­m­ag­ing the con­crete. This has been done suc­cess­fully on a num­ber of bridges across In­dia. The process con­sists of

ap­pli­ca­tion of Shali­tex Primer fol­lowed by tourch­ing of Su­perTher­moLay APP mem­brane 4mm thicker fol­lowed by over­lay of bi­tu­mi­nous wear­ing course, and fi­nally ap­pli­ca­tion of Shal­iSeal RSTC.

Shal­iPatch EC for crack re­pair­ing

Re­pair of cracks in rigid and flex­i­ble pave­ments by cold ap­plied poly­mer­ized elas­tomeric con­crete crack filler. Crack filling rang­ing be­tween 5 - 50 mm wide in con­crete/ flex­i­ble roads, and for sur­face cor­rec­tion in con­crete road/pave­ment.
