Simmtron­ics, a brand that has carved a niche for it­self in the tablet space, has joined the smart­phone brigade. The com­pany has launched its first smart­phone, the XPad M1 Ama­zoid, which runs on An­droid 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The smart­phone comes with an 11.93 cm (4.7 inch) ca­pac­i­tive touch screen and is pow­ered by a 1.2 GHz dual core pro­ces­sor. Packed with an 1800 mAh bat­tery, it has an 8 MP rear and a 2 MP front cam­era. The XPad M1 Ama­zoid is pow­ered with 512 MB of RAM and has 4 GB of in­ter­nal mem­ory. Says In­dra­jit Sab­har­wal, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, Simmtron­ics, “Smart­phone us­age is in­creas­ing day by day. Keep­ing in mind the de­mand for bud­get smart­phones, ven­tur­ing into the seg­ment was the next log­i­cal step for us. More­over, un­like oth­ers, we are plan­ning to man­u­fac­ture smart­phones in In­dia.”
