GTech part­ners with Red Hat to catal­yse open source adop­tion in Ker­ala

The Ker­ala gov­ern­ment’s IT pol­icy en­cour­ages the adop­tion of open source and open tech­nolo­gies in the pub­lic do­main. Hence, the Group of Tech­nol­ogy

Com­pa­nies (GTech), the in­dus­try body for IT com­pa­nies in Ker­ala, has re­cently signed an MoU with Red Hat.

The part­ner­ship aims to create en­hanced aware­ness on var­i­ous open source tech­nolo­gies amongst IT pro­fes­sion­als in the state. The MoU will fa­cil­i­tate part­ner­ships be­tween Red Hat and GTech mem­ber com­pa­nies. The ef­forts will fo­cus on re­search and prod­uct de­vel­op­ment in open source soft­ware tech­nolo­gies.

The state gov­ern­ment has also em­pha­sised the need to pro­mote open source among SMEs. Ac­cord­ing to the terms of the MoU, Red Hat will or­gan­ise events in IT parks across the state. These events were kick­started in Novem­ber 2017, and in­clude lec­tures, sem­i­nars and pre­sen­ta­tions span­ning the In­ter­net of Things (IoT), ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence, an­a­lyt­ics, de­vel­op­ment tools, con­tent man­age­ment sys­tems, desk­top pub­lish­ing and other con­nected top­ics.
