Fo­cused dis­cus­sions through Break­away ses­sions

An im­por­tant change in­tro­duced in OAC 2013 was the new for­mat fol­lowed through the Break­away Ses­sions, which had pre­sen­ta­tions run­ning si­mul­ta­ne­ously cater­ing to dif­fer­ent au­di­ence groups in­clud­ing Spe­cial­ist Agen­cies, Me­dia Own­ers and the re­gional ad­ver­tis­ers with top­ics rel­e­vant to each par­tic­u­lar group. The fo­cus of each ses­sion was paving the way for­ward with re­gard to dif­fer­ent as­pects of the in­dus­try and ar­riv­ing at some com­monly ac­cept­able ap­proaches to GLIIHUHQW SUREOHPV DIflLFWLQJ WKH LQGUVWUY, ZKLFK KDV al­ways been the vi­sion of OAC. For ex­am­ple on Day I there was a break-away ses­sion on ‘OOH Me­dia – Ex­pec­ta­tion and De­liv­ery’ with two dis­cus­sions run­ning si­mul­ta­ne­ously with one mod­er­ated by Lokesh Kumar – OOH Con­sul­tant, Keyur Shah – CEO Pre­cious Met­als Busi­ness, Muthoot Pap­pachan Group and Kalim Lo­har, As­so­ciate VP –Earth Group of Com­pa­nies and the other by Praveen Kumar Vad­hera -- Coun­try Head–Bates Wal­lstreet, Parag De­sai, – Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor – Sales and Mar­ket­ing, Wagh Bakri Tea Group and Bharat Dhup­par – CMO, Omkar Real­tors & De­vel­op­ers. The other break­away ses­sion was on ‘The Grow­ing Busi­ness for Spe­cial­ist Agen­cies in Asia – the Chal­lenges and Op­por­tu­ni­ties’ pre­sented by King F. Lai, CEO- Asia Pa­cific, Ki­netic in which he stressed on con­sol­i­da­tion, in­fra­struc­ture, in­vest­ment & Dig­i­tal OOH as be­ing the ma­jor ar­eas which would help th­ese spe­cial­ist agen­cies to over­come the chal­lenges and turn them into op­por­tu­ni­ties. Sam Bal­sara, CMD- Madi­son World, came next with his pre­sen­ta­tion on how spe­cial­ist agen­cies could get rid of traders trade mark. His ad­vice was: “know your strengths and weak­nesses.” Si­mul­ta­ne­ously run­ning dur­ing then was the ses­sion by Jesslina Sahi, Train­ing con­sul­tant , Leap Ahead, whose pre­sen­ta­tion on ‘Lead to Ex­cel­lence: The Im­por­tance of Soft Skills’ en­gaged the par­tic­i­pants in a fun team ac­tiv­ity. An­other very in­ter­ac­tive ses­sion was on ‘Mas­ter Class on Cre­ativ­ity for OOH me­dia’ by Sonal Dabral - &KDLUPDQ & &KLHI &UHDWLYH 2IfiFHU - DD% 0UGUD GU­RUS DQG 6DQWRVK 3DGKL, &KLHI &UHDWLYH 2IfiFHU & &R-)RUQGHU - Tap­root In­dia who went back to the au­di­ence to come up with ideas that could take the medium for­ward. The ses­sion saw about 15 ideas com­ing out, all cater­ing to dif­fer­ent as­pects of the OOH medium. The other ses­sion by Torsten III­gen- De­sign Di­rec­tor - In­ros Lack­ner, Viet­nam fo­cused on the need for an ar­chi­tect to plan a com­plete de­sign so­lu­tion for the out-of-home me­dia and pro­cesses and main­tain a dif­fer­ence be­tween large scale and small scale me­dia plan.
