DeLL PreciSion 5510
With great looks and super specs, this notebook is capable of handling the heaviest of all multimedia apps
Dell got huge consumers’ attention with its innovative thin bezel screen in XPS series of notebooks. The same display ethics come with its new workstation with the combination of omnipotent hardware.
The bright touch-screen: Precision 5510 comes with new PremierColor InfinityEdge display that produces eye-popping colors and details with 4K Ultra HD resolution. With thin bezels around the edges of the glass panel, the IPS screen offers great all-round viewing angles. The screen is touch-enabled and works well without giving any trouble. The screen has a good brightness level of 295, making it useful for all lighting conditions.
Whether you are working on any software which requires high-density pixels or watching movies and playing games, this screen will never let you feel that you could get better than this, at least at this point of time.
At the bottom of the screen, you can see the large bezel where Dell has placed a 720p web camera, that appears quite awkward though. While using Skype or any other video call app, it focuses on your nose. However, the 720p camera captures images with good details.
The laptop is equipped with dual speakers beneath the deck which produce loud and clear sound. It comes with MaxxAudio software that lets you configure the sound as per your choice.
Looks cool and has shallow keyboard: Dell has used aluminium for the outer shell of Precision 5510 which has a dark-silver finish at the top. The silver finish gives it a rich look, but sadly it attracts dirt and smudges. While the deck is made with carbon-fiber with a comfortable soft-touch finish, it offers a great experience while using the device.
It has a shallow keyboard which is LED back-lit. The keys are quite soft making your typing experience pleasant, even if you are using it for longer durations. The back-lit keyboard comes with three brightness modes, allowing you to choose which suits you better or as per light conditions. The touchpad is also comfortable to use and works smoothly.
Performance: The mobile workstation is packed with an Intel Xenon processor with 16 GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM. The machine is equipped with 256 GB SSD, in which 225 GB is available to the user. The workstation runs on Windows 10. This is capable of handling even the most demanding productivity tasks. We opened 20 tabs in Chrome and Mozilla simultaneously out of which there were 5 tabs playing YouTube videos. There was no lag in performance. We also ran a few of applications like PhotoShop and MS Word simultaneously. We didn’t notice any performance lag in the system even while switching between the two apps.
The business notebook can last for more than 8 hours in moderate usage (browsing internet, video chats, running MSOffice, Photoshop etc.), while in our battery loop test, it lasted for 4 hours 42 minutes when playing video over wi-fi with full volume and brightness.
Bottom line: With good looks and performance, the workstation is powerful enough to handle various tasks easily, even multimedia applications. With thin bezels, and soft-touch feel on the deck and keyboard, Dell Precision 5510 offers a comfortable experience.
