With an experience of more than two decades in the apparel industry, he was able to create a niche in the sector by offering garments with high quality and innovation.

“Nobody plans to fail, but almost everybody fails to plan and to avoid this pitfall our company is meticulously managed by team of highly qualified technocrats and committed professionals, with an eagle eye on quality and timely deliveries and shipments,” averred Loganathan while interacting with Team Perfect Sourcing.

When asked about some of the turning points of his company, he said, “Business ties with market dominant players at the right time, establishment of vertical setup manufacturing facilities like spinning, knitting, processing house and adequate sewing factories were some of the major turning points for us.”

Working with buyers like Bestseller, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Timberland, H&M, Tom Tailor and OVS, the company is 100 percent export oriented organisation exporting mainly to Europe with specialisation in heavy

knits and fashion textiles with various types of washes. In fact, offering fast fashion garments in the least possible time is what the company works on.

AKR Textiles believes that the right quality and timely delivery of garments is the key to continuing success and thus follow it at all cost. The company aims to set new benchmarks in making a high quality and innovative range of garments with printing, embroidery, hand crafting and other embellishments.

“Our foolproof system of multipoint checking and parallel production ensures that only quality garments are manufactured within a short period. to put it cryptically, ours is a tqm company,” he professed. To maintain high quality norms the company has a well-organised quality assurance team which looks into the minutest details in quality management through continuous online checks from

incoming set ups.

AKR Textiles has all composite garment manufacturing facilities like Tubular knitting, Flat knitting, Cutting, Sewing, Printing, Embroidery and Finishing in a single campus that facilitates achieving greater efficiency in timely completion of orders. “Our USP is that we have a very wide range of products which consists of all kinds of knitted and woven garments like T-shirts, sweat shirts and sleepwear for men, ladies and kids’.”

The company uses a variety of fabrics for product range like “knitted fabrics in 100 percent cotton, cotton-polyester blends, cotton-viscose blends, new fibre/yarn as blended bamboo/cotton, Mélange, Organic Cotton and Modal, with or without elastane.

“Our strength is our ability to create highly value added garments in less lead times with high accuracy; we use techniques like discharge prints, pigment prints, embroidered garments, sequence work garments, studs and rhinestone adorned garments, impeccable hand stitch embroidered garments, etc., to give a vivid look to the garments,” added Loganathan.

AKR Textiles is the firm believer in business ethics that ensures all social commitments are met and are in line in line with Indian and Local Labour Laws. The company has been awarded the SA 8000 -2001 certification by RINA SPA, Italy, in recognition of its social accountability and compliance. “We follow a safe chemical policy for ensuring safety of users of our garments and the environment. We use only azofree dyes and environmentally safe chemicals in our products thereby assuring the best and safest garments for our valuable customers,” he added.

AKR Textiles also has a huge fabric store fabrics with more than 2,500 sewing machines at work that creates production capacity of more than 50,000 pieces per day. In fact, the group follows a policy of replacing machines every three years so that the sewing quality is always at its best and is also updated,” stressed Loganathan.

Going forward, the company is expecting 20 percent growth in 2017-18 which is attributed to its dedicated production capacities for established brands with 100 percent occupancy rate, establishing value proposition with customers, defined key indicators and by enhancing its production efficiency from current 47 percent to 53 percent. “We also plan to expand capacity by adding 20 new knitting machines to increase the knitting capacity and on the sewing side, we will add 700 machines which will be installed in Bangalore,” informed Loganathan. He also mentioned that the future expansion of manufacturing facilities will be focused in rural areas of Karnataka and Andhra to capture abundant manpower and in order to strengthen supply chain capacities and business turnover the company will come up with IPO in the next two years.

Cost of production is a critical factor today and every organization plans and takes steps to reduce cost in different areas. The same has been done at AKR Textiles also, as the company has worked on cost reduction by implementing new strategies. “We have abolished piece rate operators i.e., payroll based employment and we order raw materials that have high utility value. We use CAD markers thoroughly verified by technicians.” The company is continuously working on enhancing high productivity through its assembly line and ensures that all stocks and trims are available in-house before starting production. AKR Textiles goes a step beyond; before sourcing raw material from vendors, a special team is assigned to verify the product cost with at least three suppliers so that they are not overcharged. Attention is paid on usage of power and fuel consumption and timely repairs and maintenance is done for the saving of time and resources.

Though the group tries best to work out on methods for attaining high quality, there are no doubt many challenging areas too. Loganathan pointed out, “Sourcing of raw material for fast fashion garment is a big concern as there is a constant increase in prices, moreover, getting fast sampling and stipulated Defect per Hundred Units (DHU) control in garment process styles are some other hassles.”

In conclusion he said, “We are committed to supply high quality products to ensure high satisfaction for customers, provide superior products with standard growth and 10 percent annual increase in producing environment friendly and energy sustainable textiles.

We plan to expand capacity by adding 20 new knitting machines to increase the knitting capacity and on the sewing side, we will add 700 machines which will be installed in Bangalore Our foolproof system of multipoint checking and parallel production ensures that only quality garments are manufactured within a short period. To put it cryptically, ours is a TQM company
