• H&M to in­vest 720 crore ru­pees, will in­crease gar­ment sourc­ing from In­dia

H&M re­cently opened its 31st In­dian store in Ahmed­abad and plans to im­prove its In­dian gar­ment sourc­ing op­er­a­tions and amp up its on­line ca­pac­ity in the coun­try. H&M has com­mit­ted to in­vest­ing 720 crore ru­pees (ap­prox­i­mately 108.2 mil­lion US dol­lars) in the In­dian mar­ket and is plac­ing a strong fo­cus on the coun­try. The com­pany has asked its In­dian sup­pli­ers to find out ways on im­prov­ing sourc­ing from In­dia. H&M has sourced fab­ric and gar­ments in In­dia for al­most 30 years and the main things sourced in­clude home tex­tiles, li­nen, lin­gerie, ac­ces­sories, and wo­ven tex­tiles. Cur­rently, H&M is look­ing into how to source more gar­ments in In­dia.
