• Wel­spun plans Two Tech­ni­cal Tex­tile Units in Te­lan­gana

In­dia’s $2.3-bil­lion Wel­spun Group plans to set up three man­u­fac­tur­ing fa­cil­i­ties in Te­lan­gana with an in­vest­ment of over Rs 1,900 crore. Two of these would man­u­fac­ture tech­ni­cal tex­tiles, while the third would be for mak­ing line pipes. The three units are ex­pected to gen­er­ate di­rect and in­di­rect em­ploy­ment for over 5,000. The three projects will come up in Shabad man­dal in Ranga Reddy dis­trict and the Te­lan­gana gov­ern­ment has ap­proved a set of cus­tomised in­cen­tives for the Wel­spun com­pa­nies. The Wel­spun group has in­ter­ests in home tex­tiles, pipes, plates, coils, steel, in­fra­struc­ture and en­ergy sec­tors.

Wel­spun Floor­ing has pro­posed a Rs 1,261-crore tech­ni­cal tex­tile unit for man­u­fac­tur­ing floor cov­er­ing car­pets and lux­ury vinyl tile (LVT). The other pro­posal per­tain­ing to tech­ni­cal tex­tile is by Wel­spun In­dia Ltd with an in­vest­ment of Rs 409 crore. The project on 150 acres is for man­u­fac­tur­ing tech­ni­cal wo­ven fab­ric, stitch bonded fab­rics and non-wo­vens.
