Areva signs con­tract

Areva has been awarded a con­tract by Korea Hy­dro and Nu­clear Power (KHNP), sub­sidiary of the Korea Elec­tric Power Cor­po­ra­tion (KEPCO) for the sup­ply and the re­place­ment of six sta­tors for the Kori Nu­clear Power Plant Units 3 and 4. These com­po­nents in­sure the re­li­a­bil­ity of the re­ac­tor coolant pump which is a fun­da­men­tal el­e­ment for the safe and ef­fi­cient oper­a­tion of the re­ac­tor’s pri­mary cir­cuit. Areva will de­sign and man­u­fac­ture the six sta­tors in the fa­cil­ity lo­cated at Jeu­mont, in Northen France. The de­liv­ery and re­place­ment op­er­a­tions are ex­pected to be­gin in June 2015 and fin­ish in 2018. This con­tract is part of the ‘For­ward Al­liance’ pro­gram of­fers prod­ucts and so­lu­tions de­vel­oped by Areva to sup­port util­i­ties in the op­ti­mi­sa­tion of the long term safety of their pants. “Areva of­fers to KHNP a large range of so­lu­tions for the safety and the mod­erni­sa­tion of nu­clear re­ac­tors. This con­tract re­in­forces Areva’s po­si­tion in the fast grow­ing South Korean mar­ket,” said Philippe Sa­mama, Ex­ec­u­tive Vice Pres­i­dent of Areva’s In­stalled Base Busi­ness Di­vi­sion.
