JSW Energy’s Q4 net falls 48% to Rs 175 cr but margin expands
JSW Energy’s fourth quarter (January-March) consolidated net profit fell 48 per cent yearon-year to Rs 174.6 crore due to higher charge of interest and depreciation on capitalisation of units. Topline, bottomline and operating profit were lower than analysts’ expectations but margin beat forecast. According to CNBC-TV18 poll estimates, analysts had expected the company to report profit of Rs 243 crore on revenue of Rs 2,209 crore for the quarter. Consolidated total income slipped 10.5 per cent to Rs 2,058.3 crore from Rs 2,301 crore during the same period. Operating profit declined 6.3 per cent on yearly basis to Rs 746 crore due to lower generation but margin expanded 160 basis points to 36.2 per cent in the quarter ended March 2014, which were expected at Rs 784 crore and 35.5 per cent, respectively. The company achieved an average deemed plant load factor (PLF) of 62 per cent in Q4FY14 and a net generation of 3,577 million units during the quarter on an installed capacity of 3,140 MW.
