JSW En­ergy’s Q4 net falls 48% to Rs 175 cr but mar­gin ex­pands

JSW En­ergy’s fourth quar­ter (Jan­uary-March) con­sol­i­dated net profit fell 48 per cent yearon-year to Rs 174.6 crore due to higher charge of in­ter­est and de­pre­ci­a­tion on cap­i­tal­i­sa­tion of units. Topline, bot­tom­line and op­er­at­ing profit were lower than an­a­lysts’ ex­pec­ta­tions but mar­gin beat fore­cast. Ac­cord­ing to CNBC-TV18 poll es­ti­mates, an­a­lysts had ex­pected the com­pany to re­port profit of Rs 243 crore on rev­enue of Rs 2,209 crore for the quar­ter. Con­sol­i­dated to­tal in­come slipped 10.5 per cent to Rs 2,058.3 crore from Rs 2,301 crore dur­ing the same pe­riod. Op­er­at­ing profit de­clined 6.3 per cent on yearly ba­sis to Rs 746 crore due to lower gen­er­a­tion but mar­gin ex­panded 160 ba­sis points to 36.2 per cent in the quar­ter ended March 2014, which were ex­pected at Rs 784 crore and 35.5 per cent, re­spec­tively. The com­pany achieved an aver­age deemed plant load fac­tor (PLF) of 62 per cent in Q4FY14 and a net gen­er­a­tion of 3,577 mil­lion units dur­ing the quar­ter on an in­stalled ca­pac­ity of 3,140 MW.
