Five National Awards for meritorious performance to NTPC
Five stations of NTPC received National Awards for meritorious performance in the power sector for 2013-14. Dadri Gas (840 MW) received the Silver Award, Korba (2600 MW) and Ramagundam (2600 MW) received the Bronze Award, Vindhyachal (4260 MW) and Anta (419 MW) received the certificate of merit. These awards for efficiency and performance in the sector were presented by Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy in New Delhi. The present installed capacity of NTPC is 44,598 ( including 6196 MW through JVs) comprising 40 power stations - 17 coal based, 7 combined cycle gas/liquid fuel, 1 hydro, 7 joint venture stations (six coal-based and one gas-based) and 8 RE projects. During FY 2014-15, all coal stations of NTPC achieved declared capacity of above 83%. NTPC’s coal stations achieved a PLF of 80.23% as against the national PLF of 64.46%. In a related development, the company is restructuring many of its divisions, the first such remodelling since its inception and merging existing units and creating new ones. Also it has embarked on a near Rs 1,000 crore research and development exercise that will involve ground-breaking work in areas of new and renewable energy, waste management, efficiency improvement and cost reduction.
