Wil­liam Stan­ton is Vice Pres­i­dent, Engi­neer­ing, Blue Oak En­ergy

Wil­liam Stan­ton has been named Vice Pres­i­dent of Engi­neer­ing for Blue Oak En­ergy, a so­lar engi­neer­ing firm. Blue Oak En­ergy, head­quar­tered in Davis, Cal­i­for­nia, is a wholly-owned af­fil­i­ate of Coronal En­ergy, pow­ered by Pana­sonic. As VP Engi­neer­ing, he will over­see all engi­neer­ing func­tions re­lated to the plan­ning and de­sign of en­ter­prise so­lar projects. His re­spon­si­bil­i­ties also in­clude man­ag­ing mul­ti­dis­ci­plinary civil, struc­tural and elec­tri­cal engi­neer­ing teams and projects, while up­hold­ing Blue Oak En­ergy’s rep­u­ta­tion for un­par­al­leled ser­vice qual­ity, in­no­va­tion, and cus­tomer sat­is­fac­tion.

Tobin Booth, founder of Blue Oak En­ergy and the Chief Engi­neer­ing Of­fi­cer for Coronal En­ergy, said, “Bill has led the de­sign and im­ple­men­ta­tion of some of the most com­plex so­lar PV plants op­er­at­ing to­day and his ex­panded lead­er­ship role here builds on our com­mit­ment to de­liv­er­ing real-world en­ergy so­lu­tions to the most so­phis­ti­cated cus­tomers in the mar­ket.”

Prior to join­ing Blue Oak En­ergy in 2016, Stan­ton served as Di­rec­tor of Engi­neer­ing at Belec­tric, a lead­ing engi­neer­ing-fo­cused de­vel­oper of util­ity-scale so­lar power plants and en­ergy stor­age sys­tems. Among other lead­er­ship po­si­tions in the in­dus­try, he also served as Di­rec­tor of Global Pro­ject Per­mit­ting for four years at First So­lar, a lead­ing provider of com­pre­hen­sive pho­to­voltaic so­lar en­ergy so­lu­tions. Dur­ing his ten­ure, he was in­volved in two ma­jor pro­ject port­fo­lio acquisitions – Opti-So­lar and Next­light – and man­aged a team of pro­fes­sion­als for the devel­op­ment, de­sign and con­struc­tion of over 2.5 GW of PV so­lar power plants.

Stan­ton is a li­censed civil pro­fes­sional en­gi­neer and a li­censed land sur­veyor. He ob­tained his bach­e­lor’s de­gree in Civil Engi­neer­ing from the Ge­or­gia In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy in At­lanta, Ge­or­gia.
