Mum­bai Trans Har­bour Link

With its con­cep­tion dat­ing back to the 1980s, the Mum­bai Trans Har­bour Link (MTHL) is a 22.5-km road link con­nect­ing Sewri in Mum­bai to Sheva in Navi Mum­bai, cross­ing over the Thane Creek. It is en­vis­aged to pro­vide con­nec­tiv­ity and there­fore spur eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment in the Navi Mum­bai re­gion. The pro­ject, es­ti­mated to cost ` 11,000 crore, is in the process of re­ceiv­ing en­vi­ron­men­tal clear­ance. Re­gard­ing fi­nanc­ing, Ja­panese In­ter­na­tional Co­op­er­a­tion Agency is likely to fi­nance the pro­ject to the ex­tent of 80 per cent.

Mum­bai Metro Lines

Dahisar – DN Na­gar Cor­ri­dor: This 18.5-km el­e­vated cor­ri­dor, es­ti­mated to cost ` 5,566 crore, rep­re­sents the first phase of the Dahisar-CharkopBan­dra-Mankhurd (Metro-2) cor­ri­dor. Pro­ject con­sul­tants Delhi Metro Rail Cor­po­ra­tion has pre­pared the de­tailed pro­ject re­port.

Dahisar (E) – And­heri (E) Cor­ri­dor: This ful­lyel­e­vated 16.5-km line (re­ferred to as the Metro-7 cor­ri­dor) is es­ti­mated to cost ` 4,737 crore. Delhi Metro Rail Cor­po­ra­tion, as in­terim con­sul­tants to this el­e­vated cor­ri­dor pro­ject, will as­sist nodal agency MMRDA in ap­point­ing gen­eral con­sul­tants for this pro­ject.

Navi Mum­bai In­ter­na­tional Air­port

Seen as an com­ple­ment­ing fa­cil­ity to the Mum­bai In­ter­na­tional Air­port that is fast reach­ing its sat­u­ra­tion ca­pac­ity of 40 mil­lion tpa, the Navi Mum­bai In­ter­na­tional Air­port is com­ing up over a vast 1,160-ha ex­panse in Navi Mum­bai. The pro­ject cost, pegged at ` 4,766 crore when the pro­ject was con­ceived in 1998, has in­creased to ` 15,000 crore. In the first phase, en­vis­aged to com­plete by 2019, an­nual pas­sen­ger ca­pac­ity of 10 mil­lion has been en­vis­aged. Con­nec­tiv­ity to the air­port is pro­posed through the Mum­bai Trans Har­bour Link. Four de­vel­op­ers have qual­i­fied on tech­ni­cal pa­ram­e­ters and are now el­i­gi­ble for sub­mit­ting their price bids.
