Mumbai Trans Harbour Link
With its conception dating back to the 1980s, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) is a 22.5-km road link connecting Sewri in Mumbai to Sheva in Navi Mumbai, crossing over the Thane Creek. It is envisaged to provide connectivity and therefore spur economic development in the Navi Mumbai region. The project, estimated to cost ` 11,000 crore, is in the process of receiving environmental clearance. Regarding financing, Japanese International Cooperation Agency is likely to finance the project to the extent of 80 per cent.
Mumbai Metro Lines
Dahisar – DN Nagar Corridor: This 18.5-km elevated corridor, estimated to cost ` 5,566 crore, represents the first phase of the Dahisar-CharkopBandra-Mankhurd (Metro-2) corridor. Project consultants Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has prepared the detailed project report.
Dahisar (E) – Andheri (E) Corridor: This fullyelevated 16.5-km line (referred to as the Metro-7 corridor) is estimated to cost ` 4,737 crore. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, as interim consultants to this elevated corridor project, will assist nodal agency MMRDA in appointing general consultants for this project.
Navi Mumbai International Airport
Seen as an complementing facility to the Mumbai International Airport that is fast reaching its saturation capacity of 40 million tpa, the Navi Mumbai International Airport is coming up over a vast 1,160-ha expanse in Navi Mumbai. The project cost, pegged at ` 4,766 crore when the project was conceived in 1998, has increased to ` 15,000 crore. In the first phase, envisaged to complete by 2019, annual passenger capacity of 10 million has been envisaged. Connectivity to the airport is proposed through the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link. Four developers have qualified on technical parameters and are now eligible for submitting their price bids.
