Gateway Distriparks begins work on logistics park
` from sewage treatment plants, wherever feasible.
Rampant and unmonitored dumping of untreated industrial waste into the Ganga has reached an appalling stage. The government, in an official release, has observed that benefits accrued from substantial investments made under various past programmes (Ganga Action Plan I & II, NGRBA, Yamuna Action Plan) were less than optimal. According to Central Pollution Control Board, almost 30 per cent of the sewage treatment
` plants monitored in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and West Bengal were not operational and a shocking 94 per cent of those operating were non-compliant with the prescribed effluent standards.
