CCEA approves six-laning project on NH-2
he ground breaking for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project’s North-South Corridor (Line-2) of 19 km near Jivraj Park Cross Road, on 132 ft Ring Road at Vejalpur took place in Ahmedabad on January 17, 2016.
A special purpose vehicle has been created by the state government to carry out the work of Metro-link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA). At an estimated cost of ` 4,500 crore, the project is expected to be completed within 3 years.
The state government has recently given its consent for the preparation of the detailed project report for metro connectivity to Gandhinagar. With 15 elevated stations, Line-2 of the Ahmedabad metro project is going to connect Motera with APMC, Vasna and will be passing through the important areas of the city like Paldi, Jivraj, Shreyas, Rajivnagar, Gandhigram Railway station and Sabarmati, etc.
Chennai metro bids: In an independent development, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd intends to open the technical and financial bids for the first phase of extension works on February 2. The tendering process opened on December 22, and related to the Phase-I extension project from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar in north Chennai. International bidding is currently for design validation and construction of underground station boxes diaphragm wall at Sir Thiyagaraya College and Korrukupet stations, including associated cut-and-cover and TBMbored tunnels. The 9-km Chennai Metro Phase-I extension project, estimated to cost ` 3,770 crore, will have an underground from Washermanpet to Korrukupet. Beyond this, there will be an elevated corridor up to Wimco Nagar.
