Smoking Raises Women’s Colon Cancer Risk

Reader's Digest (India) - - Mednews -

Women who smoke even a moderate number of cigarettes appear at greater risk for developing colon cancer than men who smoke. That’s the conclusion of a study looking at data on more than 600,000 Norwegians born between 1897 and 1975 led by Dr Inger Torhild Gram of the University of Tromsø. “The finding that women who smoke even a moderate number of cigarettes daily have an increased risk for colon cancer will account for a substantial number of new cases because colon cancer is such a common disease,” Gram said.
