GAIL PLANS TO SET UP ANDHRA PETROCHEM COM­PLEX

State-owned GAIL Lim­ited has ap­proached the min­istry of En­vi­ron­ment, For­est and Cli­mate Change for set­ting up a 1-mil­lion-tonne per an­num ca­pac­ity Green­field Petro­chem­i­cal Com­plex in East Go­davari of Andhra Pradesh.

Ac­cord­ing to the min­utes of meet­ing of an ex­pert ap­praisal com­mit­tee un­der the En­vi­ron­ment min­istry, the EAC has rec­om­mended per­mis­sion for pre­par­ing terms of ref­er­ence for pre­par­ing re­quired re­ports with re­gard to the en­vi­ron­ment man­age­ment and im­pact, for the project.

“The EAC, af­ter de­lib­er­a­tions, rec­om­mended the pro­posal for grant of TOR for prepa­ra­tion of EIA/EMP re­ports for the project ‘Set­ting up a Green­field Petro­chem­i­cal Com­plex to pro­duce 1 MMTPA of Ethy­lene and Ethy­lene de­riv­a­tives’ (Ethane and/or Naph­tha based) by M/s GAIL In­dia Lim­ited at A.V. Na­garam vil­lage, Thon­dangi Man­dal, East Go­davari Dis­trict (Andhra Pradesh),” it said.
