THE SONG THAT CHANGED

Savvy - - I Believe -

‘ PARESHAAN’ EVERYTHING

During this time, I was all set to travel to the US to study music because after finishing my BA, I had applied to a bunch of music schools in the US - one of which was the LA Music Academy. I couldn’t afford to fly to the US to give a live audition, so I sent a video and audio recording instead.

Playback singing was a new experience for me - one which I had never even thought of before.

A week later, my friend who worked with Amit Trivedi asked me for any demos I may have and I happened to send my LA Music Academy demo to him. As fate would have it, things clicked and Amit Trivedi called me to his studio to record ‘Pareshaan’. A month after ‘ Pareshaan’ was recorded, I received word from the LA Music Academy saying that I had been admitted to the school. But by then I was advised by the people I had met at Amit Trivedi’s studio not to leave the country because they believed that ‘Pareshaan’ would take me places.

But I have always longed to study music and I am proud to say that I have enrolled for two courses at Berkelee Online, an online music school. I am just a week into my course and I cannot explain how intellectually rewarding it is to study again, to converse with people from all over the world and hear their stories and experiences.

BOLLYWOOD BONANZA

Of course, getting back to my filmi career, ‘Pareshaan’s’ success got me more work within Bollywood. Playback singing was a new experience for me - one which I had never even thought of before. With every song and every new person I met, I was learning new things.

After ‘Pareshaan’, I sang three consecutive songs - ‘Daaru Desi’, ‘Aga Bai’ and ‘Lat Lag Gayi’ - which were huge successes. There was no turning back ever since...
