Sometimes even being live on camera doesn’t protect you from harassment. Julieth Gonzalez Theran, a female sports reporter working for the Spanish language division of German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), was groped and kissed, even as she filmed a live World Cup broadcast from the Russian city of Saransk. Grabbed by a man who went on to kiss her on the cheek, she bravely continued the broadcast.

Later, posting a clip of the incident on social media, she wrote, “RESPECT! We do not deserve this treatment.” She added, “We are equally valuable and professional. I share the joy of football, but we must identify the limits of affection and harassment.” The man in question had apparently taken advantage of the situation, as Julieth maintained, and soon vanished from the scene.
