The Star­dust Achiev­ers Awards in Lon­don was a glitzy affair!

‘ Star­dust’, In­dia’s

promi­nent Bol­ly­wood en­ter­tain­ment magazine, or­gan­ised the Star­dust Achiev­ers Awards at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, Lon­don, the glitzy city of dreams. The achiev­ers were cho­sen from the fields of busi­ness, cinema, fash­ion, arts and cul­ture, me­dia, mu­sic, law, ed­u­ca­tion and com­mu­nity ser­vice; achiev­ers who have made In­dia proud all over the globe.

Fa­mous per­son­al­i­ties like Vy­jayan­thi­mala, Hema Malini, Esha Deol, J P Dutta, Bindiya Goswami, Ar­jun Ram­pal, Sonu Sood, Harsh­vard­han Rane, Gurmeet Choud­hary, Mad­hoo Shah and Luv Sinha added the glam quo­tient to the evening. The award cer­e­mony not only had stars, but also lead­ing en­trepreneurs, cor­po­rate heads and high ranked Govern­ment of­fi­cials from the elite In­dian cir­cle in Lon­don. The High Com­mis­sioner of In­dia Y K Sinha, Deputy Com­mis­sioner of In­dia Di­nesh Pat­naik, MP Virendra Sharma, Dr Aman Puri,

the Con­sul Gen­eral for In­dia in Birm­ing­ham, Lord Do­lar Popat from the House of Lords, Lieu­tenant Com­man­der Han­nah Macken­zie from the Royal Navy and many more promi­nent faces were in at­ten­dance. Dr Bhu­pen­dra Ku­mar Modi (B K Modi) flew in from Sin­ga­pore wear­ing his trade­mark Panama hat.

The evening be­gan with the soul­ful Raagesh­wari Loomba singing the song ‘We Are In­di­ans’, which got a thun­der­ous ap­plause. Her song was re­peated each time the achiev­ers were awarded. ‘Star­dust’ also hon­oured leg­endary per­son­al­i­ties like Hema Malini and Dr Vy­jayan­thi­mala Bali for their con­tri­bu­tion to In­dian cinema and per­form­ing arts. On the oc­ca­sion, Vy­jayan­thi­mala also launched Hema Malini’s bi­og­ra­phy ‘Be­yond Dream Girl’ writ­ten by Ram Ka­mal Mukher­jee. They were joined by Hema’s ac­tress daugh­ter Esha Deol. But this was not all. Renowned film­maker J P Dutta un­veiled the first look of his up­com­ing film ‘Pal­tan’ along with his tal­ented cast com­pris­ing Ar­jun Ram­pal, Sonu Sood, Harsh­vard­han Rane and Gurmeet

Choud­hary. ‘Star­dust’s’ spe­cial is­sue, ded­i­cated to the film, was also un­veiled by the cast and crew.

Sep­a­rate press con­fer­ences were also or­gan­ised as a part of the event for Dutta’s ‘Pal­tan’ and Esha Deol’s short film ‘Cake­walk’. Both the films ob­tained a stu­pen­dous re­sponse from the me­dia in the queen’s city.

“It’s time to tell a new story, to tell an­other part of the his­tory of our coun­try and sa­lute more real life he­roes. I present ‘Pal­tan’. A film and a sub­ject very close to my heart and I’m ex­tremely ex­cited about it,” said Dutta.

‘Cake­walk’, on the other hand, marks the re­turn of Esha on the sil­ver screen in a 22-minute short film about a chef who is shown to be bal­anc­ing her pro­fes­sional and per­sonal life. On ask­ing the ‘Dhoom’ ac­tor about her char­ac­ter in the film, she averred, “I know many girls in gen­eral and many of my friends are in sit­u­a­tions like Shilpa, my char­ac­ter in the film. ‘Cake­walk’ shows that we women can have the best of both worlds. It’s a very emo­tional film for me.”

The Star­dust Achiev­ers Awards was the most talked about event in Lon­don and will be re­mem­bered by Lon­don­ers for a long time to come. In­deed, ‘Star­dust’ pulled out all the stops to make this a night to re­mem­ber for every­one. It was a truly in­cred­i­ble evening!
