The Stardust Achievers Awards in London was a glitzy affair!
‘ Stardust’, India’s
prominent Bollywood entertainment magazine, organised the Stardust Achievers Awards at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, London, the glitzy city of dreams. The achievers were chosen from the fields of business, cinema, fashion, arts and culture, media, music, law, education and community service; achievers who have made India proud all over the globe.
Famous personalities like Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Esha Deol, J P Dutta, Bindiya Goswami, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Harshvardhan Rane, Gurmeet Choudhary, Madhoo Shah and Luv Sinha added the glam quotient to the evening. The award ceremony not only had stars, but also leading entrepreneurs, corporate heads and high ranked Government officials from the elite Indian circle in London. The High Commissioner of India Y K Sinha, Deputy Commissioner of India Dinesh Patnaik, MP Virendra Sharma, Dr Aman Puri,
the Consul General for India in Birmingham, Lord Dolar Popat from the House of Lords, Lieutenant Commander Hannah Mackenzie from the Royal Navy and many more prominent faces were in attendance. Dr Bhupendra Kumar Modi (B K Modi) flew in from Singapore wearing his trademark Panama hat.
The evening began with the soulful Raageshwari Loomba singing the song ‘We Are Indians’, which got a thunderous applause. Her song was repeated each time the achievers were awarded. ‘Stardust’ also honoured legendary personalities like Hema Malini and Dr Vyjayanthimala Bali for their contribution to Indian cinema and performing arts. On the occasion, Vyjayanthimala also launched Hema Malini’s biography ‘Beyond Dream Girl’ written by Ram Kamal Mukherjee. They were joined by Hema’s actress daughter Esha Deol. But this was not all. Renowned filmmaker J P Dutta unveiled the first look of his upcoming film ‘Paltan’ along with his talented cast comprising Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Harshvardhan Rane and Gurmeet
Choudhary. ‘Stardust’s’ special issue, dedicated to the film, was also unveiled by the cast and crew.
Separate press conferences were also organised as a part of the event for Dutta’s ‘Paltan’ and Esha Deol’s short film ‘Cakewalk’. Both the films obtained a stupendous response from the media in the queen’s city.
“It’s time to tell a new story, to tell another part of the history of our country and salute more real life heroes. I present ‘Paltan’. A film and a subject very close to my heart and I’m extremely excited about it,” said Dutta.
‘Cakewalk’, on the other hand, marks the return of Esha on the silver screen in a 22-minute short film about a chef who is shown to be balancing her professional and personal life. On asking the ‘Dhoom’ actor about her character in the film, she averred, “I know many girls in general and many of my friends are in situations like Shilpa, my character in the film. ‘Cakewalk’ shows that we women can have the best of both worlds. It’s a very emotional film for me.”
The Stardust Achievers Awards was the most talked about event in London and will be remembered by Londoners for a long time to come. Indeed, ‘Stardust’ pulled out all the stops to make this a night to remember for everyone. It was a truly incredible evening!
