The Supreme Court's decision to uphold the death sentence awarded to the convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case has come as a huge relief for all. While Nirbhaya's parents state that their trust in the judiciary has been reaffirmed, they also hope that the hanging is not delayed, as only that will send out a stern message and stop potential rapists from committing the crime. We cannot agree more with them!

The mass suicide of 11 members of the Bhatia family in Delhi was dreadful! What was even more shocking was that the suicides were conducted on the orders of the eldest member of the family as a way to reach God. While mental health experts are putting it down to a syndrome called ‘shared psychotic disorder', it is terrifying that we as a society are still not doing enough to acknowledge and address mental illness in the country.

The plastic ban in Maharashtra has been getting a very encouraging response. It's nice to see everyone on the road carry cloth and paper bags. Life without plastic may seem impossible, but these baby steps will surely go a long way in helping us do our bit to control the damage that is being done by plastic to our environment. Your June 2018 issue featuring Vidya Balan on the cover was lovely. The actress came across as pretty honest in the ‘I Believe'. The ‘Anniversary Special' super women were also very inspiring. Continue to motivate us with your riveting reads, and a happy anniversary to everyone at Team ‘SAVVY'!

It was a very proud moment for India when Hima Das became the first Indian athlete to claim a gold in the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championships in Finland. It was especially delightful to see her run on the ground with the tricolour on her back. Go girl, get the Olympic gold now!
