Is there a natural way to fight wrinkles? Simran Shah, Mumbai

Wrinkles occur due to ageing, sun exposure and dynamic expressions on the face. Creams containing retinol and vitamin C can help prevent and reduce the occurrence of wrinkles. There are not many natural ways to fight wrinkles but regular use of sunscreen and moisturiser, intake of antioxidants, fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals, application of whipped egg white on the face for 15 mins, avoiding smoking and staying hydrated can reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Is it true that toothpaste helps fight a zit and make it disappear?

Natasha Nethi, Delhi

Dabbing toothpaste on acne helps shrink it as toothpastes contain drying agents like baking soda, alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. But these harsh formulas can also cause over drying, irritation and burning. It is advisable to use anti-acne specific creams and cleansers for a better and safer result. Choose creams that contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or retinol to treat acne.

Botulinum toxin injections for treating forehead lines is an FDA approved procedure. It is used to relax and smooth the appearance of horizontal lines on the forehead and vertical frown lines between the eyes. The result lasts for 4-6 months. Make sure you do this treatment with a certified dermatologist for best results.
