CFTI Of­fers Job-ori­ented Cour­ses in the Field of Footwear

Aim­ing to launch job ori­ented cour­ses in the field of footwear in­dus­try, Cen­tral Footwear Train­ing In­sti­tute (CFTI), a train­ing in­sti­tute in footwear tech­nol­ogy un­der the Union Min­istry of Mi­cro, Small and Medium En­ter­prise (MSME), has started of­fer­ing about seven long-term and eight short-term cour­ses in footwear tech­nol­ogy at its Chen­nai cam­pus, said K Mu­rali, Di­rec­tor, CFTI.

While ad­dress­ing the me­dia, Mu­rali said that the pro­gram would pro­vide var­i­ous self-em­ploy­ment, job-ori­ented cour­ses un­der MSME us­ing mod­ern tech­nol­ogy and the best qual­i­fied fac­ulty.

Em­pha­siz­ing that ‘In­dia is the sec­ond largest footwear man­u­fac­turer in the world next only to China’, he added that the mar­ket ori­ented trained tech­ni­cians in the in­dus­try have higher job po­ten­tial with ex­pand­ing footwear in­dus­try.

In com­ing times, In­dia needs more and more skilled work­ers to meet man­u­fac­tur­ing de­mands, he added.

These short term and long term cour­ses in the footwear tech­nol­ogy will pro­vide skill based train­ing to the par­tic­i­pat­ing stu­dent which will be in high de­mand in the near fu­ture.

Mu­rali said the cour­ses are meant for all lev­els of ed­u­ca­tion from Class X, Plus 2, Grad­u­a­tion and even Class VIII.

He said that al­most all the trained can­di­dates from CFTI are to­tally em­ployed and most of the lead­ing man­u­fac­tur­ers are of­fer­ing place­ments by con­duct­ing cam­pus in­ter­views.

Short term cour­ses were also of­fered through state gov­ern­ment spon­sor­ship, he added.
