The first im­pres­sion is al­ways the most im­por­tant, and keep­ing that in mind Wel­tech Shoes de­signed and cu­rated Flyrun col­lec­tion. “We’re pas­sion­ate about Flyrun,” said Ra­jesh Vig, Di­rec­tor Wel­tech Shoes, “We want to re­mind cus­tomers of why they fell in love with us in the first place, and cel­e­brate the amaz­ing spirit of women power.”

“Flyrun gives us the op­por­tu­nity to tap into the In­dian women footwear re­tail space with a new and in­no­va­tive fash­ion prod­uct. We are a one of a kind brand, deal­ing in knit­ted fab­rics spe­cial­ly­de­vel­oped for footwear,” said Ritu Vig, Di­rec­tor, Wel­tech Shoes.

Ply­ing his vast ex­pe­ri­ence in the footwear man­u­fac­tur­ing in­dus­try and uti­liz­ing a small-batch pro­duc­tion model, Ra­jesh Vig has pro­duced a su­perlight train­ing/rac­ing flat with a neon col­ors and a light­weight life­style shoe aimed at the ath­leisure mar­ket. Apart from the

MBO’S and deal­ers, Flyrun will be sold on­line through var­i­ous ecom­merce sites. Ra­jesh Vig cu­rated his first col­lec­tion of 500 styles on 31st Aug’18 and hosted 150 plus deal­ers. “We’re ex­cited to be back in the mar­ket­place with some­thing fun, light­weight and unique,” said Ra­jesh. “This is just the start of what we plan to do. With small-batch pro­duc­tion, we can be nim­ble and con­tin­u­ally cre­ate new mod­els.”

His new line isn’t a white-la­bel­ing project. He played a hands-on role in de­vel­op­ing the shoes in his shoe com­pany in Delhi and sees it as his strong en­try into the per­for­mance shoe mar­ket. Flyrun shoes are built on a tech­ni­cally ad­vanced, sin­gle-layer foam chas­sis that has a semi-firm and re­spon­sive de­meanor. The blue, red, white, or­ange, yel­low and black per­for­mance­ori­ented shoe has an airy, seam­less mesh up­per that is se­cured by an in­ter­nal sup­port strap and flat, stretchy per­for­mance laces. The mod­els have been de­signed for travel, light run­ning and walk­ing ca­sual wear, has a light­weight quilted up­per with round clo­sure. The col­lec­tion has shed weight off a shoe but with­out sac­ri­fic­ing com­fort and dura­bil­ity, some­thing bril­liantly done. Mean­while, all mesh in the up­per is su­per com­fort­able for the hot weather.

The launch of the ini­tial shoes was very suc­cess­ful—so far, he says, he’s sold more than 4 months of pro­duc­tion ca­pac­ity. Flyrun plans to cre­ate ad­di­tional spe­cial shoes with new themes, as well as an ev­ery­day per­for­mance-train­ing shoe with cus­tom­iz­a­ble in­soles.

The USP of the soft rub­ber­ized sole of­fered by Flyrun is that they are wear­resis­tant, wa­ter-re­sis­tant, oil-re­sis­tant, heat-re­sis­tant, pres­sure-re­sis­tant, im­pactre­sis­tant, elas­tic, easy to fit, and not eas­ily de­formed af­ter shap­ing. Slip into Flyrun shoes and one can lift, run, jump and cut in mul­ti­ple en­vi­ron­ments. When one takes a run onto the trails, ex­tra cush­ion­ing is the name of the game. These light­weight and sup­port­ive shoes make off-road run­ning so much eas­ier, and the tread pro­vides plenty of trac­tion. Me­mory foam cush­ion­ing with com­bi­na­tion of soft sole will give one a feel­ing of com­fort and fresh­ness all through the day.

Vishnu Gupta, Gupta Trad­ing Co. (Dis­trib­u­tor) says, “Ra­jesh Vig ob­vi­ously has a lot of knowl­edge about footwear and de­sign, and with his new line you can def­i­nitely see that he knows what he’s do­ing.”

Ashok Arora, Arora Trad­ing Co. (Dis­trib­u­tor) says, “The price and de­sign range is re­ally im­pres­sive. The range was

ap­pre­ci­ated by all the dealer across Delhi. We hope to cap­ture mar­ket with Flyrun.”

The up­start shoe launch is a fam­ily af­fair, with Ra­jesh, spear­head­ing shoe de­vel­op­ment; Ritu han­dling sales and mar­ket­ing; and daugh­ter Ni­harika, pro­vid­ing some of the brand’s de­sign in­spi­ra­tion. “Our idea is to make small batches of unique shoes,” shared Ritu. “I think there’s a real trend for peo­ple want­ing unique look­ing shoes with a ver­sa­tile, ath­letic vibe, a more ca­sual look and an in­ter­est­ing story as op­posed to an overly techy look­ing shoe that ev­ery­body is wear­ing from a huge brand.”

Priced between ` 599-899, the com­pany is plan­ning to make the col­lec­tion avail­able at 2000 plus stores ini­tially, and sub­stan­tially in­crease its mar­ket share in the women. Wel­tech Shoes has been into footwear man­u­fac­tur­ing since the past 20 years.
