With what foresight was the Jehangir Art Gallery founded?

Smart Photography - - Industry Opinion -

Sir Cowasji Jehangir, 2nd Baronet, founded the Jehangir Art Gallery in 1952 with the purpose of providing a prominent platform for young and upcoming Indian artists to showcase their work to the public. The overall objective was to create an awareness to the public at large about the work of these young artists and promote them at minimum cost as there was no such facility existing at that time. Even today, it is the premier institution achieving this objective.

How different will the Terrace Art Gallery be from the existing Jehangir Art Gallery?

The Terrace Art Gallery for Photography and Visual Art will be a purpose- designed space for showcasing photography as opposed to paintings which are displayed in the existing spaces of the Jehangir Art Gallery.
