Aditya College of Architecture, Mumbai hosted its 3rd edition of it lecture series - The Annual Charles Correa Memorial lecture, on 16 June 2017 in college’s auditorium. The lecture was in the memory of the late Ar. Charles Correa, whose significant creation of contemporary architecture post-independence have made the era pre-eminent. Therefore, the lectures aimed at creating awareness amongst the students about the philosophies and works of Charles Correa and the far-reaching influence it has left for the future generations of architects.

The renowned architect, Ar. Abhinav Wakhle, was a guest speaker for the event. He gave his guidance and directed the young architects, partaking his knowledge and experiences. The seminar was commenced by the lighting of the lamp and Principal, Ar. Aparna Surve felicitated the speaker along with his wife Ar. Kanika Wakhle. The seminar was hosted and conducted by the students of Aditya College of Architecture. The event saw participation of 300 students and faculty members.

Ar. Abhinav Wakhle who was associated with late Ar. Charles Correa for six years as senior project architect and later between 2012 and 2015 for the archival works, unearthed the greater intensity of Correa’s thoughts. The insightful presentations on the works of Correa and his response to the community was the main point of the seminar. He also shared a video lm made by Charles on the community and its strength for urban development, in 1960’s during Correa’s Boston stay, was a very unique approach to streamline community problems. Charles Correa’s major concern that reflected through the presentation was being sensitive to the surroundings from the city level.

In the first edition of the memorial lecture in 2015, Ar. Narendra Dengle shared his insights and learnings, as being closely associated with the Master. In the second edition last year, Ar. Sachin Agshikar continued the session with his experiences as associate to the Master on various projects.
