The Poly International Plaza designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) is inspired by the chinese paper lantern. This tower plaza is located between the Forbidden City and the Beijing Capital Airport. The façade has a continuous diagrid patterns, that not only shimmers like jewel but also lower the buildings energy footprint. The building comprises of three elliptical towers, that are connected from the underground. The central tower is named as Diamond Lantern, which is 499 ft., fall and is clad with steel, concrete and angled glass. The other two buildings are covered with vertical grids of dark metal rods. The unique structure helps to form an outer thermal envelope around the office space.
