Architects Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines collaborated to design this solar-powered Seine Musicale located in Seguin Island in Paris. The shiny glass globe is framed from within by timber and the exterior is wrapped with massive solar panel sail, which rotates around the building to follow the sun. This urban project is the part of Jean Nouvel’s Island Master Plan for Seguin Island. The multi-use building comprises of concert hall that has capacity of 4,000 and classical music hall with 1,150 seats along with various recording rooms. The building is surrounded by ample green space. The hexagonal globe frame includes the buildings ceiling. The solar sail will rotates to give maximum amount of energy to the building.
