Ar­chi­tects Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines col­lab­o­rated to de­sign this so­lar-pow­ered Seine Mu­si­cale lo­cated in Seguin Is­land in Paris. The shiny glass globe is framed from within by tim­ber and the ex­te­rior is wrapped with mas­sive so­lar panel sail, which ro­tates around the build­ing to fol­low the sun. This ur­ban project is the part of Jean Nou­vel’s Is­land Master Plan for Seguin Is­land. The multi-use build­ing com­prises of con­cert hall that has ca­pac­ity of 4,000 and clas­si­cal mu­sic hall with 1,150 seats along with var­i­ous record­ing rooms. The build­ing is sur­rounded by am­ple green space. The hexag­o­nal globe frame in­cludes the build­ings ceil­ing. The so­lar sail will ro­tates to give max­i­mum amount of en­ergy to the build­ing.
