MINAX Architects has designed ONE Teahouse, in Shanghai, China. It is designed using 999 wooden sticks. The rectangular room has long wooden table with pouffes that forms the seating area. From ground to ceiling it is designed with help of wooden sticks that are cut out of an oval shape, with each pieces of wooden having various angle and length. With a gradual transition the sticks transform the rectangular room into an oval shape room. The room is well-lit by a circular window at the end. As the sunlight reflects from the vivid cut surfaces of the sticks it gives a rhythmic play of varied sizes and circles.
