Keeping it Queer!

TO CELEBRATE the life and journeys of the Indian LGBTQ community, Indus Vox Media, which was launched by Amit Doshi in March 2015, has conceptualised a podcast, titled, Keeping it Queer. Five influential people with different sexual orientations will be participating in this podcast, dishing out their quirky experiences on the common theme of growing up queer in India. While some faced homophobia, rejection and societal pressure, others met with warmth and understanding. The show is hosted by comedian Navin Noronha and has activist Harish Iyer as its first guest. Harish, known for his outspoken views on human rights issues, seems to be the show’s ideal choice as the opening man. The remaining four guests on the podcast include bi-sexual activist Sonal Giani, filmmaker Sridhar Rangayan, gay rights advocate Vivek Patil and transgender rights activist Urmi Jadav. This show certainly takes forward the vision of the network to disrupt and populate the otherwise limited audio talk content in the country. No wonder, in less than a year since its inception, it has grown to become India’s largest podcast network and an industry model for digital audio content, what with their quirky and urban audio content. We like!
