Kamal ka Kamaal

THE SUPERSTAR-TURNED-POLITICIAN Kamal Hassan has created quite a stir by dashing off an open letter to PM Narendra Modi asking him to resolve the Cauvery river water sharing problem. In his letter, Kamal urged the PM to take prompt action as the delay has caused dismay among the people of ‘Tamizh Nadu’. He went on to highlight how the Supreme Court had already ‘performed its constitutional role by delivering the judgement’ on the matter and now it’s ‘the government’s turn to perform its constitutional duty and implement the order’. Kamal also reminded Modi about his former role as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, where he has already had the experience of water sharing amongst four states through the Narmada Control Authority. ‘All sections of people have started to believe that this delay is due to ensuing elections in Karnataka and your Party’s interest in it. Sir, it is your duty as the Prime Minister of our country to prove this wrong by immediately acting as per the Supreme Court order’, he wrote. The due water supply to the Tamil Nadu state as well as some other Southern states like Kerala and Puducherry will benefit the hapless farmers, and hence, the agitation. Also in arms with him are many celebs from Mollywood like director P Bharathiraja and many other stars and directors. Kamal is taking his political interests quite seriously and is proving to be a true son of the soil in the process.
