said, “We will now be able to detect HPHT Type IIb synthetic diamonds immediately and with absolute results, with the introduction of ‘Quick-Check’. This affordable device will be able to curtail the threat of mixing of synthetic diamonds in the market. This is so essential to maintain customer confidence. I invite retailers and manufacturers to come forward and avail the benefits of this instrument.”

Praveenshankar Pandya, chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, said, “We wish to safeguard ourselves against any threat of illicit mixing of synthetics with natural diamonds. With the advent of this instrument, the industry will benefit the most as the detection of synthetic diamonds with this instrument will help the supply of natural diamonds to flourish. I am very impressed with the ease of use and affordability of this instrument.”

Russell Mehta, vice-chairman, GJEPC, added, “This is a landmark achievement by the GII. India is one of the largest hubs for diamond processing and this initiative will build more confidence in the trade circles.”
