The All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) held its much anticipated grand jewellery exhibition show, Preferred Manufacturer of India (PMI), from June 12th to 14th, 2018. It was inaugurated by Vijai Sardesai, minister for town and country planning, agriculture, factories & boilers, Government of Goa, in a glittering business-cumleisure environment at Hotel Grand Hyatt, Bambolim, Goa.

PMI is an exclusive business-to-business exhibition which allows retailers from various regions to visit the show and conduct business with jewellery manufacturers. This is the third show in the fourth edition of the PMI networking meet. This edition included 43 prominent jewellery manufacturers and 150 leading retailers. GJC’s PMI showcased a variety of new designs, innovative creations and extraordinary jewellery collections in gold, diamond and coloured stones.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Sardesai said, “I’m happy that GJC is organising its premier show Preferred Manufacturer of India in Goa and bringing the top jewellers of the country to our state. I wish all the participants the very best.” He also welcomed GJC’s idea for setting up skill development units in Goa for skilling the local people as jewellery artisans, which can help them to empower themselves and develop the state as a jewellery manufacturing hub.

Nitin Khandelwal, chairman, GJC, said, “GJC being the apex body of gems and jewellery in India undertakes various initiatives and programmes that are aimed at improving industry business practices, promoting compliance, standardisation and transparency, and professionalism for the growth and development of the industry sector. GJC also initiates various promotional activities to further the retail businesses as well as manufacturing segments through various dedicated platforms. PMI is one such initiative where we are providing a luxury podium for the manufacturers and retailers for focused business. Today, PMI is known for its commitments towards providing a fine platform where the buyers and sellers get maximum time to understand each other. I think there is a need to evolve PMI as a model for doing business through exhibitions as it beats all odds and builds a stronger bond between the buyer and seller.”

Sumeet Anand, convener, PMI and director, GJC, opined, “In a volatile market condition, we need game changers and PMI is the game changer for the gems and jewellery industry. As the name suggests, PMI is for the preferred people of the industry and we are committed to remain focused on our objectives and goals. We are very particular with the selection process of the retailers and handpick only those retailers that best match the seller profiles. Networking for business is the new-age mantra for successful enterprises and PMI offers manufacturers a dedicated platform that facilitates better relationship building with the country’s most prominent jewellery retailers.”
