The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), which promotes gems and jewellery export from Thailand, organised a road show in JCK Las Vegas to introduce the 62nd Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair that will take place from September 7th-11th, 2018. Some 50 Thai companies and brands took part in the promotional campaign to display their gems and jewellery products. Some of the companies that had been invited to join the road show were Thai Silp, V&P Jewellery, Vatana Gems, Craft Art, Pranda Jewelry, Ariha and Nida Factory. Kwanapa Phivnil, executive director of Thai Trade Center, Los Angeles revealed that the overall economy in US has been exhibiting signs of improvement since 2017 with continued growth. The Thai Trade Center in Los Angeles is highlighting three Thai product groups that have strong demand in the US: Food, Fashion including clothing and jewellery, and Entertainment and Film. “The overseas office is focusing on gems and jewellery products which is one of the fashion product categories that play a huge part in exports from Thailand. The US market imports $59 billion-worth of jewellery annually, with Thailand accounting for $1,288 million, or only 2.2% of the total figure. On the other hand, Thailand is the country with the 13th highest imports of gems and jewellery products from the US,” Phivnil added.
