Indiab clinches Quadrangular Series
Indiab pummelled Australiaa into submission, beating it by nine wickets in the final to clinch the Quadrangular Series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on August 29. If the away side had hoped to build on the moraleboosting win over the same opposition on August 27, it wasn’t to be, as Indiab chased down the 226run target at a canter.
Mayank Agarwal (69, 67b, 9x4, 2x6) showed yet again that his appetite for runs remained undiminished. Not to be left behind, Manish Pandey (73 n.o., 54b, ■x4, 3x6), notched up yet another halfcentury.
Earlier, after Australia was put in to bat, D’arcy Short and Usman Khawaja started briskly, collecting 23 runs from two Prasidh Krishna overs. Their assault however soon fizzled out.
On a twopaced wicket, Australia struggled, particularly while playing the slower bowlers, losing a number of batsmen to either crossbatted shots or leaning edges.
Australiaa 225 in 47.5 overs (Darcy Short 72, Alex Carey 53, Shreyas Gopal three for 50) lost to Indiab 230 for one in 36.3 overs (Mayank Agarwal 69, Shubman Gill 66 not out, Manish Pandey 73 not out).
