Lock­heed Martin has re­ceived a de­liv­ery or­der from the USAF for the pro­vi­sion of 14 Sniper tar­get­ing pods to Kuwait. The pods will be in­stalled on the Gulf state’s fleet of F/A-18C/D air­craft. Since 2016, the firm has also

be­gun ef­forts to in­te­grate the pods on Kuwait’s Ty­phoon air­craft. De­liv­er­ies of the new pods are ex­pected to com­mence in 2018.

Lock­heed Martin has won a $137.8 mil­lion con­tract mod­i­fi­ca­tion for cost-re­duc­tion pro­grammes for the ini­tial low-rate pro­duc­tion of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter for the US Air Force, US Navy and the US Ma­rine Corps. This is sched­uled to be com­pleted by De­cem­ber 2020.

In ad­di­tion to its deal to build Black­hawk he­li­copters in the Saudi Ara­bia, Lock­heed Martin will de­velop a $28 bil­lion air and mis­sile de­fence pro­gramme that will in­clude the THAAD bal­lis­tic mis­sile de­fence sys­tem, the anti-air­craft mis­sile Patriot, 150 util­ity Black­hawk he­li­copters and other sys­tems and lo­gis­ti­cal sup­port.
