RUS­SIAN HE­LI­COPTERS DE­LIV­ERS AD­DI­TIONAL MI-171ES TO CHINA

Oboron­prom sub­sidiary Rus­sian He­li­copters has handed over an ad­di­tional batch of Mil Mi-17E multi-role mil­i­tary trans­port he­li­copters un­der con­tract to Poly Tech­nolo­gies. Com­pris­ing four he­li­copters, the lat­est con­sign­ment brings the to­tal num­ber of he­li­copters de­liv­ered till date to by the com­pany to 32. Around 55 Mi-171E multi-pur­pose he­li­copters were or­dered by Poly Tech­nolo­gies as part of a $660-mil­lion con­tract signed with Rus­sian state-arm-ex­porter Rosoboronex­port in July 2012, to help en­hance the Chi­nese Peo­ple’s Lib­er­a­tion Army’s (PLA) tac­ti­cal air­lift ca­pa­bil­i­ties. Man­u­fac­tured by Ulan-Ude Avi­a­tion Plant, the Mi-171E is an ad­vanced vari­ant of the Mi-17 medium twin-tur­bine he­li­copter, and is spe­cially mod­i­fied to de­liver a high-class per­for­mance in moun­tain­ous ter­rain.
