HAR­RIS TO SUP­PLY AD­DI­TIONAL FAL­CON III WIDE­BAND TAC­TI­CAL RA­DIOS TO USSOCOM

Har­ris has been awarded a se­ries of con­tracts for sup­ply of ad­di­tional Fal­con III man­pack and hand-held tac­ti­cal ra­dios to the US Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Com­mand (USSOCOM).Val­ued at a com­bined $18 mil­lion, the or­ders cover de­liv­ery of Fal­con III AN/PRC-117G and AN/PRC-152A tac­ti­cal ra­dios to sup­port ex­pan­sion of de­ploy­ment of a SOCOM-ac­cred­ited wide­band tac­ti­cal com­mu­ni­ca­tions net­work. The net­work en­ables the op­er­a­tors to send and re­ceive tac­ti­cal voice, video and data, re­sult­ing in en­hanced sit­u­a­tional aware­ness and in­tel­li­gence, sur­veil­lance and re­con­nais­sance (ISR). Har­ris RF Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Depart­ment of De­fense busi­ness unit Pres­i­dent Ge­orge Helm said the Fal­con III wide­band ra­dio sys­tems are de­liv­er­ing the tac­ti­cal in­ter­net to the bat­tle­field. “This new net­work is open­ing up a world of new com­bat ap­pli­ca­tions such as col­lab­o­ra­tive chat, bio­met­ric en­roll­ments, video con­fer­enc­ing and video ISR,” Helm said. “These are next-gen­er­a­tion ca­pa­bil­i­ties, de­liv­ered today, us­ing a proven com­mer­cial busi­ness model that thrives on com­pe­ti­tion and in­no­va­tion.”
