ARMY FOR NIGHT SIGHT FOR AU­TO­MATIC GRENADE LAUNCHER SYS­TEMS

The In­dian Army is look­ing to pro­cure ther­mal imag­ing sights for its in-ser­vice 30mm au­to­matic grenade launcher (AGL17)/au­to­matic grenade sys­tem (AGS-30) sys­tems. Part of its ex­panded drive to fight night-blind­ness across equip­ment stocks in op­er­a­tions, the Army has stip­u­lated, “The ther­mal imag­ing sight de­sired by the In­fantry should be a light weight and ruggedi­zed de­vice to en­able ac­cu­rate en­gage­ment of tar­get by use of 30mm au­to­matic grenade launcher (AGL-17)/ au­to­matic grenade sys­tem (AGS-30) at night/hours of dark­ness/poor visibility at an ef­fec­tive range of 1,700 me­tres.” In­ter­ested ven­dors have been called upon to spec­ify the mount de­sign and de­tails of the ther­mal imag­ing sight, the type of ret­i­cle pat­tern, the zero­ing mech­a­nism for the sight, whether the sight has been pro­vided with op­ti­cal mag­ni­fi­ca­tion or dig­i­tal zoom along with the cor­re­spond­ing field of view, de­tec­tion, recog­ni­tion and Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion ranges vary­ing from clear night con­di­tions to pitch dark con­di­tions and ad­verse weather con­di­tions (spec­ify ad­verse weather con­di­tions) and also the in­ter­pre­ta­tion of de­tec­tion, recog­ni­tion and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion ranges in re­la­tion to the type of tar­get. Also sug­gest method­ol­ogy for field eval­u­a­tion of the above stated pa­ram­e­ters.
