Army Chief chairs Mech­a­nised Forces Con­fer­ence


Chief of the Army Staff Gen­eral Bikram Singh chaired the Fifth Bi­en­nial Mech­a­nised Forces Con­fer­ence on Fe­bru­ary 26. Ad­dress­ing the del­e­gates at the Fifth Bi­en­nial Mech­a­nised Forces Con­fer­ence hosted by the Ar­moured Corps Cen­tre and School, Ah­mad­na­gar, from Fe­bru­ary 25-27, Gen­eral Singh praised the bat­tle readi­ness of the Mech­a­nised Forces which de­liver the vi­tal punch on the bat­tle­field. The COAS said that their com­mit­ment, mo­rale, train­ing and op­er­a­tional ca­pa­bil­i­ties must in­stil fear in our po­ten­tial ad­ver­saries.

The COAS added that a fresh im­pe­tus is re­quired for change in the Army. To­wards pur­suit of all-round ex­cel­lence, the Gen­eral ex­horted all ranks of the Mech­a­nised Forces to fo­cus on ef­fec­tive train­ing for in­te­grated all-arms op­er­a­tions. He said that the Army has al­ways been the epit­ome of trust and dis­ci­pline, for which they should al­ways be proud. The COAS em­pha­sised on the fo­cus ar­eas enun­ci­ated by him for all ranks of the Army.

Dur­ing the three-day con­clave, im­por­tant is­sues re­gard­ing mod­erni­sa­tion, real­is­tic oper­a­tionally-ori­ented train­ing and hu­man re­source man­age­ment is­sues were dis­cussed. A large num­ber of se­nior serv­ing of­fi­cers of the elite Ar­moured Corps, Mech­a­nised In­fantry and Bri­gade of the Guards also at­tended the con­fer­ence.
